Absence of food intake for a long time.- In our language we find that the term hunger can have two main references: first, it is used to refer to the sensation that is experienced after a certain period from the last consumption of food, varying this with each person , with the type of food that is carried, with the specific conditions of the situation and with other elements. That is, taking into account the exposed conditions, and having spent a long time without eating any type of food, it is common and very common for people and animals to feel hungry.
There are typical symptoms that alert us, anticipate to people that we are hungry and that it is time to sit down to eat something, among them: feeling of hollowness and emptiness in the stomach, headache, weakness, especially if it has spent a long time, and In some people a sharp bad mood may be experienced from being without eating for a long time.
Beyond these issues that can manifest themselves in the physical, we must indicate that food is super important for people because it is what gives us energy to face the various activities that we usually have in the day, so it is very important that we respect schedules of each meal: breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. We will have a healthy life and also a satisfactory performance in our actions.
The hunger of the people due to the lack of opportunities and economic resources
On the other hand, the word hunger is widely used in our language with a social connotation and with a very general meaning in relation to the condition of extreme poverty, misery and malnutrition that a large part of the world population suffers precisely because of the lack of that food that we have been talking about and that as we said is essential for subsistence and to perform in what we undertake.
When it is said that this or that population of the world suffers from hunger, it is because they cannot access basic foods, which are those essential due to the content of nutrients they have. Staple foods provide the person with calories and generally contain carbohydrates.
The sensation of hunger or lack of food in the body is one of the most basic sensations not only of the human being but of any living being. In this sense, satisfying that void caused by the lack of food is what allows us to continue our existence in a normal way, considering food one of the most primary and vital needs. Normally, it is argued that hunger usually appears significantly after four hours from the last meal, deepening this sensation with the passing of the hours and with the maintenance of the lack of food.
However, in situations that are not entirely common, the sensation of lack of food and hunger can learn to be tolerated for longer periods of time (although not eliminated).
Feeling hungry is mainly the result of the action that certain glands and their substances (such as the hypothalamus) provoke in our brain. In this way, signals are sent to the brain organ that highlight the need to consume food before the deterioration (greater or lesser) of certain conditions of 'normality'.
A scourge that grows
Without a doubt, hunger as a social concept and as a pandemic is today one of the most serious problems on our planet. According to studies carried out by the institutions responsible for the matter (such as the UN), malnutrition and hunger are one of the main causes of death in the world, a situation that affects billions of people, as well as extensive regions of the planet. Thus, the inequality in access to food, productive means and proper nutrition according to the specific needs of each type of individual is evident.
The most curious and regrettable thing about this situation that, as we have just pointed out, several regions and nations of our planet are going through is that it usually occurs in places where food production stands out, which is why children and people in general die of hunger in these contexts is a real calamity that cannot be believed or understood.
In this sense, and without a doubt, the main responsibility lies with the state, normally an absent state that does not deal as it should to achieve an equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities. It cannot be and is inadmissible that in a food-producing country people die for lack of food.
