status bar definition

Typical Windows Explorer status bar with information about what we are seeing on the screen.

The state bar is not a bar that any government or state in general will use, nor is it a state drinking and eating place, they are supposed to have a canteen for that. Joking aside, we can say that it is a program that is located at the bottom of documents, browsers, text editors, etc. The normal thing it does is provide information about what is being done in a specific program. When a program works, it provides us with information on the progress of the task that is being carried out (especially if the task requires some time).

In general, it usually brings few options, however, clicking with the left mouse button opens a menu that allows you to get many options with information from the document. This has the utility of being able to see things of interest in the document or program, without having to do anything other than look away for a second to see what is interesting. This bar can be edited to make it visible or invisible at will. If it is not used, it is advisable to disable it or make it invisible, this is especially useful in computers and tablets with reduced screen since it reduces the amount of screen available to work with.

In so-called smart devices we can see how the status bar can be configured to change color according to our taste.

Do not confuse the status bar with the Windows task bar, the latter is only dedicated to showing the programs or folders that we have open on our PC. The status bar allows us to see things that are happening in A program we are running. A practical status bar is one that is configured to have only those elements that are useful to us and that we use the most. Current browsers do not have a status bar by default, however when there is some information to show, information appears at the bottom of the browser page as a status bar but disappears as soon as we remove the mouse pointer from the area of information. Each developer incorporates the necessary visualizations for efficient work into their status bar, it is for this reason that not all status bars are the same even though the programs have identical functions. Software developers decide on the most convenient features at their own discretion.
