definition of english

The original language of northern Europe, exclusively Germanic in origin, is designated by the term English, which first developed in England and then spread to many of the colonies that this overseas power managed to add to its dominance. Today, English is the first language spoken in the United Kingdom and the United States and of course continues to retain its priority in those regions colonized by the English hundreds of years ago.

As a consequence, then, of the expansion that the British carried out during their golden age as the first world power and later, a situation that in these modern times embodied the United States once it became the first military and economic power in the world, English is the language that people choose to communicate internationally and therefore also the language that they teach the most around the world, because of course, it is supposed to be the language that will open the most job and opportunity doors.

The English language descends directly from the language spoken by the Germanic tribes, including the Frisians, Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, who migrated from what is now the northern part of Germany to present-day England.

Within English we can distinguish between two accents, the Frisian accent, closely linked to the Frisian language, spoken by at least half a million people in the Dutch province of Friesland, a region very close to Germany and on several islands in the North Sea.

And the Boston accent, which is considered one of the purest because it is the least permeable to changes since the colonization in 1630, remaining almost intact, both the vocabulary and the original expressions. For this reason, Boston has always established itself as one of the most visited cities and chosen by those individuals who want to improve their English.

Broadly speaking, the spelling of English was fixed approximately in the 15th century, although of course, today, it presents many modifications of the one established at that time and in terms of verb tenses, English has four fundamental verb tenses: present, past, future and conditional.

On the other hand, the English term is also used when you want to realize that something or someone is originally from England or that for some reason they are related to this Nation.
