environment

definition of wasteland

It is called as paramo to that large terrain characterized by the absence of population and vegetation and by being located at a certain altitude.

The structure of the moor is comparable to that of tabular relief which stands out for the orographic appearance of strata with table shapes and is settled on limestone-type soils (sedimentary rock made up mostly of calcium carbonate) that have practically no vegetation; rainfed crops, heather and scrub are the most common presences.

Regarding the climate, we also find several peculiarities, since in the moors it is a fact the thermal amplitude, the regular winds and the scarcity of rivers, as long as and as a consequence of the considerable altitude that many moors observe, in the times of rains the presence of fog is quite frequent.

It should be noted that those areas in which the moors are numerous are called moorlands. The Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, Tropical Africa, North America, among others, are some of the places where we can find this type of environment.

And also the word moor designates the mountain ecosystems that extend discontinuously in the Neotropics, as the region that contains part of South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico is called. Obviously they share the typical characteristics of the moor mentioned above.
