drill definition

When we speak of simulation we are referring to those acts that are based on the simulation of a real situation, either to recreate it and review what happened or to prevent them and know how to act before them. Normally, the term drill refers to preventive actions that can be carried out in different institutions or that can be carried out by various agencies such as firefighters, police, health services, thus projecting themselves before the possibility of emergency situations that require a large organization and prior logistics. Drills can be events involving many people, even non-professionals, as well as being reduced to the participation of only such professionals.

The word simulacrum generally means imitation or simulation of something, copying something in a certain way. The simulation is an attitude that anyone can take in different situations to calm certain interests, being in some cases positive and in others not so much since it supposes a certain lack of truth. Simulation is, for example, what artists such as actors and actresses do who play a fictional role and seek to make their audience believe (through different methods) that for a while they are that person or that fictional individual.

The simulation is in most cases, understood as what is done when a certain event is organized in which the various institutions and organizations of a region act to solve an emergency. Drills are usually done to measure issues such as the organization time required, the most appropriate methods to obtain the best results in less time, the implementation of an articulated communication system between the different parties, etc. Drills are common in schools and other public buildings as well as in large buildings, in urban transportation systems, etc.
