html definition

HTML is a language that is used fundamentally in the development of web pages.

HTML is short for HiperText Markup Language is a language is commonly used to establish the structure and content of a website, both text, objects and images. Files developed in HTML use the extension .htm or .html.

The HTML language works by means of "labels" that describe the appearance or function of the framed text. This language can include a script or code that affects the behavior of the web browser of choice.

The functionality of HTML is so simple that it can be created and edited in any basic text editor, such as the typical Notepad of the Windows operating system. It can also be edited in word processors, web design software or web applications directly, like the more conventional content management programs like WordPress.

A typical program for editing in html is Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver, which are used to create sites and web pages. Most of these softwares include a WYSIWYG version (What You See Is What You Get, which in Spanish means "What you see is what you have"), which allows you to edit the HTML live quickly and easily, being able to preview the results while the program generates the HTML code version in parallel.

Some typical HTML tags are those that serve to define formatting aspects, such as , surrounding bold text, , italic text, and underlined text. Also, other common tags in this language are for font size, title, links, tables, images, and script.

Introducing yourself to HTML is a simple and didactic way to learn to design on the web, obtaining visible results in a practical way to create both basic and very advanced sites.
