Card csc - definition, concept and what it is

The credit and debit cards that we use to make purchases have revolutionized consumption all over the planet. One of the most important aspects of these plastic devices is safety. The acronym CSC refers to the security code incorporated in all the cards. This code consists of three or four digits depending on the type of card and its exact location also varies in each issuing entity.

Of course, the CSC code is intended to prevent fraud.

Relevant data about the CSC

This numerical security code is also known by the acronym CVC, CID or CVV. Regardless of the acronyms used, it is a printed number that is usually found next to the space reserved for the user's signature.

Unlike the card number, this identification number is not embossed. On the other hand, the CSC code is not reflected in any operation.

The user uses this code in certain operations as a complementary security measure, especially in operations carried out online. It should be noted that this identification code is requested to reconfirm the identity of the person who performs the operation

Recommendations to avoid possible fraud

Although the cards have a chip, a magnetic bar, holograms and various security numbers, users should take certain preventive measures to guarantee their security. Thus, so that the cardholder cannot be the victim of any fraud, it is recommended that in no case the numbering corresponding to the CSC is provided (as a general criterion, other card information is requested, such as the pin or the expiration date ). On the other hand, it is advisable to sign the card, as in this way its authenticity is confirmed and any hypothetical impersonation is made difficult.

When the user receives his bank card, he has to verify that the envelope is perfectly sealed and that it complies with the necessary protection measures. It is very convenient to memorize the secret number and not write it down anywhere.

In case of theft or loss, you must contact the issuing entity. Finally, it is advisable to verify the expiration date of the card and not give anyone the secret key.

The precautionary measures mentioned above are necessary, since the possibility of cloning a card or carrying out some type of fraud is an increasingly common reality.
