definition of human relationships

The concept of human relationships is perhaps one of the oldest in history since it has to do with the possibility of human beings to relate in very different ways with other similar beings. Unlike what happens with animals, human relationships are not only instinctive or caused by biological needs, but in many ways they have evolved very deeply to even become something new and different, much more complex as is the case for example with labor or interpersonal relationships.

To speak of human relations we must start from the concept of community or society. These spaces are those in which man establishes links and relationships with other similar beings based on specific needs that can range from the need to form a family to the need to be governed. Thus, life in society is made up of a complex system of human relationships that are born out of necessity or instinct but that develop in very different ways. This is visible, for example, in the different forms of government, family relationships or social hierarchy that different communities may have.

Life in society can represent a great diversity of relationships depending on how they are put together. The social hierarchy is clearly one of the most determining factors when establishing them, for example by pointing out which social groups will have more power over others or will be able to decide on the lives of others with ease.

Within a community we can find relationships of all kinds ranging from the most primary (for example, family relationships that arise from the moment one is born or love relationships that are established between two people who decide to form a couple) to more complex (as is the case of labor relations in which the idea of difference, hierarchy, superiority and inferiority, etc. is generally always present).

Currently there are study careers based on human relations that are dedicated to working on them from different levels and interests, such as Public Relations.
