Normally, the word acropolis is usually related to the city of Athens, the most important and significant city in Ancient Greece. There, the area designated as acropolis is visible from anywhere in the city and has on its surface one of the most important buildings in the history of mankind: the Parthenon, a religious temple where the Greek gods were worshiped. In addition, many other temples dedicated to the Greek goddess Athens are located in this space and are visited by millions of tourists.
Although the term acropolis is not usually used to speak of the elevated areas of other cities than Athens, it is appropriate to note that most of them have a higher area in which the most important buildings are generally located. , where it is considered that the first traces of the city arose or where, by eventual preference, the members of the highest and wealthiest classes were located.
