An exhibition is a sample of some skill, skill or artistic-creative activity intended for the entertainment of an audience.
The person who performs this type of action is usually an artist, an athlete or someone with a special ability and who wants to make their exceptional skills known to a group of spectators.
General characteristics of an exhibition
There are common elements in most acts cataloged as an exhibition. What is shown is something unique and that implies a qualification difficult to achieve by most people. The implicit motivation of the exhibitor is generally personal satisfaction, the pretense of recognition, the pursuit of success or the obtaining of money.
It could be said that every human being wants, to a greater or lesser extent, that others admire his qualities and, in this sense, we all need to exhibit or show our capabilities. However, the concept of exhibition is closely linked to the world of entertainment in any of its manifestations, as well as in the sports field.
The hardest yet
In the circus world a phrase has been coined, "the most difficult yet", which symbolizes the essence of what an exhibition is, that is, the challenge of permanent improvement and of achieving what others have not achieved. The artist, creator or athlete has the personal challenge of constantly improving and, in parallel, the public seeks new emotions.
It should not be forgotten that challenges that seem impossible are a stimulus for some, which is appreciated in feats or records that are constantly being tried to reach.
Exhibitionism
If someone has an exaggerated inclination to attract the attention of others, they are said to be an exhibitionist, something that is considered excessive and synonymous with vanity.
Exhibitionism has a double meaning: the inclination of someone to expose themselves to others and deviant behavior of a sexual nature, which consists of showing their genitals to other people.
Exhibitionism with sexual connotations reveals that a natural tendency (showing a personal capacity) can present an unhealthy expression with a perverse component. From a psychiatric point of view, this behavior is considered a paraphilia, which means that the individual seeks sexual pleasure beyond conventional sexual relations.
