Under the term subsoil, everything that is located below the earth's surface and that makes up the space immediately after it with respect to the geological layers of the Earth is known. The subsoil is what is below the ground, according to its etymological explanation, and, depending on the region of the planet to which we refer, it may be in a more or less natural state or more or less transformed by the action of the human being. .
Normally, the subsoil is one of the geological sections of the Earth to which we do not have permanent and recurring visual access. This means that to a large extent, the terrestrial subsoil remains unknown in its essential characteristics in the eyes of the majority of the population. However, this does not mean that the subsoil is irrelevant because it is not visible; quite the contrary, the subsoil is the space in which many of the relationships and phenomena necessary for life take place.
Among other examples, we can point out that the subsoil is that space in which the roots of all plants and vegetables grow and inhabit, living beings that are essential when creating an environment conducive to the life of animals and humans. At the same time, the subsoil is the space where thousands of microorganisms imperceptible to our eyes carry out their work and decompose toxic elements to transform the earth's surface into a habitable space.
When we talk about subsoil it is inevitable to point out that in many spaces it can be severely altered by human action. This is especially so in urban areas where underground constructions serving different purposes are located underground (such as canal systems, subways, communication systems, etc.). This means that the subsoil as a modifiable space also becomes essential in urban centers and doing without it is simply impossible.
