The word death refers the death of an individual, the end of a life, that is, from the death term we can give an account, inform, about the death of a person. Therefore, it can be used as a synonym for the words death, demise, demise and perishingmeanwhile, the word is directly opposed to terms such as those of delivery and birth.

Stillbirth is how the fetal death in the womb before birth. The aforementioned loss of life within the uterus can occur intra-uterus and be caused by various causes, or failing that, intra-labor, in the latter case it will undoubtedly be an obstetric failure. Depending on the original cause, stillbirth usually occurs between 1 and 3%.

Stillbirth, then, is one of the most devastating and complex events to face both for parents and for the doctors who attend the case; management by the obstetrician is quite limited since the cause can only be discovered in 50% of the cases that occur. Normally, there are no alarms or previous signs that allow to anticipate it, turning into an unpleasant and sad surprise.

Risk factors that can lead to stillbirth include: low socioeconomic status, early pregnancies, poor prenatal control, abuse of heavy work, poor diet, advanced age of pregnant women, obesity, genetic inheritance from parents, diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, lupus, toroids, among others.

Although it is the least frequent cause of all, the placenta can also cause fetal death due to detachment, bleeding and forming thrombi.

When the mother does not feel the movements of the fetus inside her, it is the main alarm that something is not going well, then, if the pregnant woman feels this particularity, an ultrasound should immediately be performed to confirm or dismiss the situation, since it is the more faithful way to check fetal death.
