definition of parador

In the field of tourism and urban planning, the parador is a typical element of certain types of cities or urban spaces that are close to the sea. We understand parador as that space (which can be both public and private) that is located on the beach or near a watercourse and where different services and possibilities are offered to tourists so that they enjoy their experience to the fullest.

As can be seen in the image, the paradores are spaces that are located on the beaches or near the sea so that people who go there for tourist purposes of entertainment or relaxation can access certain services to improve their vacation experience. The paradores have that name because the first paradores were precisely stops along the way so that people who were going to certain tourist destinations could find some necessary services or products. Today, the word is related more than anything to those spaces that are located on the beaches and that are very varied in terms of what they offer.

In general, the paradors have a main gastronomy service that can range from juices and smoothies to quite advanced replicas of restaurants. Other paradores offer services related to leisure and recreation such as pools (heated or not), space for artists and musicians, games for children and even models of bowling alleys and dance halls that are put into use mainly at night.

At present, most of the paradors are private, which means that the government of the region rents the space for a certain period of time to private entrepreneurs so that they can organize their business there and form their establishment. However, many other paradores are public, which means that it is the government itself that controls and organizes them and that their entry is free.
