In the framework of psychology, the concept of living space refers to that safety zone that a human being has, that intimate and personal nucleus that is his own and in which he shares his concerns and desires with other people. People who, therefore, are also part of this vital space thanks to this close bond. It should be pointed out that, therefore, this very comfortable space also evolves and changes over the years thanks to the life path that the subject travels.
The living space is our place in the world, it is that environment in which we truly feel that we can be ourselves and we experience full security.
The living space is that place where we take refuge after having lived a traumatic experience or after a very stressful day at work. So, we rest in our comfort zone marked by a predictable routine but with a very special meaning.
The personal safety zone
This living space and relationship of trust with others is also shown through one's own body language. For example, when two people are confident and feel good physically in the proximity of the other, it is common for them to walk down the street without there being a high physical distance between them.
The same is true if they sit on a park bench to chat. However, when this close relationship does not exist, the physical distance is much greater since we feel physically invaded when an acquaintance exceeds the margins of our own safe space.
When we have confidence with someone, we can give them a hug to show this joy for the reunion, on the other hand, when they introduce us to someone, the handshake is the most used form of protocol. We naturally keep a greater safe distance.
The house as a space of intimacy
From a metaphorical point of view, the house represents to a great extent the force of the living space, that environment in which each person feels in their maximum intimate environment. And therefore free in its purest form.
A place full of memories as shown in the photographs and also full of personal nuances since the decoration and the style chosen to give life to the home, enlivens a home of the very essence of who lives in it.
