definition of omnivore

The concept of omnivore we use it in our language to name those animals that feed on both plants and animals. That is, the animals that are classified as omnivores have a broader and more indistinct diet, not distinguishing what they eat as if other types do. What we mention we say in close relation to what happens with the carnivorous animals that only eat meat or herbivores that only eat plants.

The crows, which are a fairly recognized species of bird, belong to this category of omnivores, there are even many specialists who attribute its long presence on the planet to this particular characteristic of its diet, which makes it an intelligent harvester of carrion, cereals, fruits and little animals.

Meanwhile, the human species, although there are some positions that oppose it, is also considered within the omnivorous classification, since human beings preferentially eat plants, through the fruits and vegetables that we consume and of course also meat from dead animals, such is the case of beef, pork, among others.

Since the earliest times of man on the planet, food has always been a mix of vegetables that they collected and meat from animals that they hunted opportunely for food.

It is also important that we emphasize that from a nutritional point of view, the intake of both meat and vegetables, obviously always in a balanced point and in the most suitable conditions, is usually considered the ideal.

Obviously there are opposing positions such as vegetarians and the most extreme of vegan that promote a diet only based on plants and condemn the intake of meat, in addition to considering that animals are killed to satisfy the diet, and that this action is practiced with virulence affecting clear the quality of the meat that is ingested in this way.

On the other hand, there are studies that support the theory that the consumption of animal meat can develop some health problems in people, such as cardiovascular problems, to name one of the most common.

Also, vegetarians argue that the intrinsic characteristics of humans make them herbivores by nature.

A subject with many edges and open to a controversy that never seems to close ...
