The birds are an order of birds, formally called passerines but popularly called as birds, and that make up more than half of the bird species that flap around the world. The diversification of the birds is impressive, calculating an approximate of almost six thousand species. After fish, birds are the most abundant vertebrates.
Among the causes of this proliferation are intrinsic characteristics of the species such as its simple adaptation to different environments, its ability to shelter and stay in the trees, without a doubt, the most distinctive sign of birds, the nests they build for their procreation and protection of the young and their intelligence.
Singing, its singular characteristic
But there is an even more popular and recognized characteristic of birds that is the one that distinguishes them the most and of course deserves a separate paragraph, that of song.
The singing of birds are the characteristic vocal sounds of these and usually have a communication purpose. They are generally very melodic and harmonious and that is why for humans they are one of the most appreciated sounds of nature.
In the countryside, in rural areas, which are characterized by their quietness in contrast to the noise of the city, is where this song can be most appreciated. Normally the silence that prevails in these areas makes the singing of birds more appreciable, and they are even used by their inhabitants as a sign of the arrival of morning, when they usually sing.
Physical characteristics
Physically they are characterized by the arrangement of four toes, three are oriented forward and one backward that joins the leg at the same level as the front toes. This feature is what facilitates its grip on tree branches or any other vertical surface.
Their body is covered by feathers and they are small in size. Its form of reproduction is through the incubation of eggs that the female lays after being fertilized by the male. The chicks are born very defenseless and therefore require extreme care from their mothers. To satisfy this need for protection, they know how to build sophisticated nests that are difficult to access.
