communication

infographic definition

The term infographic is a term that is used to designate a type of graph that is characterized by providing information of different types through images or designs depending on the topic that is touched in each case. Infographics are an informal and much more attractive way to communicate since they seek to attract the attention of the person who observes them through the use of specially selected colors, images or designs. Infographics do not usually contain too much information but it is provided in limited quantity since the core of this type of graphics is the design itself. In general, an infographic takes the information from the same images and represents it in small and short texts that make it much faster and more agile to read.

It can be said that the last decades of the 20th century have shown a very important development of images and the visual, which is why communicating through this type of elements is today much more common and comfortable since in this way it attracts a lot more easily the reader's attention. They are thus differentiated from normal texts or images that do not provide any type of information, being able to place them in the intermediate place between these two options.

An infographic can vary in size depending on the medium in which it is made (whether the infographic is located in a magazine or newspaper, in a brochure, on a website or in a book). The realization of an infographic is a combined work of both those people who know information on a topic (such as journalists, historians, statesmen, etc.) and graphic designers who will be in charge, once the information is collected and selected, to arrange it in such a way that the most important or colorful data attract the attention of those who read or visualize it.
