definition of personal data

Personal information they imply all that information inherent to a person and that as such allow to identify it according to, that is, they provide a real existence.

Among these data we can highlight: the name and surname, date and place of birth, age, real address, telephone number, marital status, names and surnames of their parents, employment status, studies completed, to name those that are marked as basic personal data of a person.

The satisfactory provision of these personal data is of the utmost importance for any person because they are what allow them to be identified as we have already indicated and also because they allow them to be linked with the corresponding public or private organizations, and that in that interaction they are not confused with another person.

If a person goes to a public agency to obtain a benefit, among the first things they will ask them to complete is a form in which their personal data will be entered. This is essential to be able to contact you in the future, that is, if the person does not report their personal data accordingly, it may happen that they cannot be located or that the benefit sought is granted to another person.

Personal data is also very important when investigating a crime since when the suspect or person responsible for an offense is identified, it will be possible to arrest him and initiate a cause to serve a penalty for having committed that crime.

At present and as a consequence of the phenomenal dissemination of information that new technologies and telecommunications allow, it is that people's personal information is being treated in an irresponsible way by many companies that manage to obtain it.

Surely you did not give your phone or email to the credit card company but it obtained it through your cell phone company and then it communicates with you to offer you a benefit.

This type of situation is what we call little responsible use of personal data, because without a doubt there must be an agreement on the part of the person when supplying them, a fact that in this case has not occurred.

With the intention of counteracting this situation, most of the world's laws already include a section that precisely deals with ensuring the security of personal information. When this is not respected then a sanction will ensue.
