A technologist is a specialist trained to work in the field of applied technology. He is a professional who combines intellectual activity with manual activity, that is, he can work on a wide variety of projects through the application of basic engineering principles and technical skills. Their work typically focuses on improving product, manufacturing, construction, engineering, and operational functions through the use and optimization of technology.
It can perform in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, construction, medical, maintenance and administration. They are typically hired as managers of technology, product design, testing, development, systems creation, field engineering, technical operations, or quality control.
What makes a professional a technologist?
In some countries this is a legally recognized profession and only those who have graduated from an accredited study program and have work experience in their field can achieve this title. However, it is not just about obtaining a university degree.
Technologists are knowledge workers. In other words, his manual activity is based on the knowledge acquired during his training and his years of experience. Before executing, they analyze and make strategic decisions.

They are most often employed in service jobs such as equipment installation, machinery repair, measurement, maintenance, adjustment, manufacturing, and operations. A technician is a doer and executor, who focuses on the practical elements of executing a project. He or she provides technical assistance in the specialized area and performs day-to-day tasks. Technicians are generally trained to carry out operational work, rather than perform tasks that require theoretical knowledge, strategy development, or decision-making.
Why do we need technologists?
To develop their industry, countries require trained technologists, capable of innovating and finding their own solutions, rather than importing technology from elsewhere.
