definition of ecodevelopment

Eco-development, also known as Sustainable Development, is a concept that was formalized for the first time in a document known as the Brundtland Report, which was the result of the work of the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development.

The Ecodevelopment context is divided into three main parts: environmental, economic and social. Meanwhile, the main question that it proposes is that basic needs such as clothing, food, work and housing must be satisfied, because unfailingly poverty in the world will only lead to catastrophes of different kinds, including ecological ones. On the other hand, welfare and social development is strongly limited by the technological level, therefore, the improvement that can be made at this technological level will be reflected in the recovery of the rhythm by the environment.

Then, the mission par excellence that Ecodevelopment has ahead will be the define projects and reconcile in some way the three aspects mentioned above: environmental (compatibility between the company's activity and the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity, exercising control above all in the generation and emission of waste), economic (financial performance) and Social (social consequences of the activity of the company, from workers, through suppliers and even customers).

Among the conditions that must be met to guarantee Ecodevelopment are: that no renewable resource is used at a rate above its production, no polluting substance can be produced at a rate higher than that of its recycling and no non-renewable resource should be used faster than necessary to be replaced by a renewable resource used in a sustainable way.

The reason for the Ecodevelopment is found, both in the fact of having limited natural resources, such as nutrients in the soil, drinking water, among others, plausible to end, as well as the fact that a growing economic activity, without further concern that economic profitability causes serious irreversible environmental problems.
