organization definition

The term organization has two basic references. On the one hand, the word organization is used to refer to the action or result of organizing or organizing. And on the other hand, A system designed to satisfactorily achieve certain objectives or goals is designated, while these systems can, in turn, be made up of other related subsystems that fulfill specific functions.

The organization, a necessary condition in any activity

The organization turns out to be a question widely required in the development of various activities, or failing that, also, with regard to our daily lives. Basically this is so because the organization implies order and as has already been proven, an opposite scenario, such as disorganization or chaos will in no way lead to the achievement of the proposed objectives in any area or instance, ever.

Let's transfer the above to a specific example. If in the room that we use as a work space we do not have furniture to organize the elements and the material that we use to work, the task in all aspects will be very complex to specify. In principle we will not have where to sit comfortably and we will have to do it on the floor. If we work with papers, with documents and files, we will also have to have them on the floor and even if they are arranged in a certain order, it will be more difficult to find one in particular than if they are in a file cabinet with its corresponding identification card.

As we appreciate from the case presented, organization is a sine quanom condition if you want to carry out a job or activity effectively and satisfactorily. There is no other acceptable option that leads us to success, only organization. And this is applicable to a work environment, as in the situation we set out as an example, as in any other.

The organization a system with specific purposes

In his second proposal, the term manifests an organization based on a social group made up of people, a series of tasks and an administration, which interact within the framework of a systemic structure with the goal of meeting certain proposed objectives.

Organization characteristics

The essential feature of any type of organization and that it must be observed in order for it to exist and then survive, is that the people who make it up communicate and agree to act in a coordinated way in achieving the proposed objectives that lead them to effectively and satisfactorily fulfill its mission.

Meanwhile, to help this coordination and communication, organizations work through rules that will serve in the achievement of purposes. Not agreeing or not complying with current regulations as well as uncoordinated action will threaten the survival of the organization.

Among the various characteristics that distinguish an organization are: set of people with resources, assigned objectives, norms and established hierarchical order, satisfaction of needs, production or sale of goods or services, transmission of culture, generation of work, creation, conservation and knowledge transmission, among others.

Organization classification

On the other hand, organizations can be classified according to the following criteria: by their purpose (for-profit and non-profit), by their structure (formal and informal), by their size (small, medium, large, micro-enterprise), by its location (multinational, regional, national), by its type of production (goods or services), by the type of property (private, public or mixed), by the degree of integration it presents (fully integrated or partially integrated) and their attitude towards changes (rigid or flexible).

Civil and government organizations, the most common

The two most common types of organization that occur in almost all communities are civil organizations, which are those citizen groups created to cover some social need, such as political parties, NGOs, unions, clubs, among others. And the government organizations, which are those created by the state to carry out some type of social task and which are directed by the government in function and financed through public funds.

All the aforementioned types have as their ultimate purpose the achievement of the general well-being of individuals and that is why their presence is very important in the life of societies.
