definition of ecosphere

Global ecosystem of planet earth formed by living organisms

The Ecosphere is the global ecosystem of planet earth, which is made up of all those organisms present in the Biosphere and the relationships that are established between them and with the environment..

It is a comprehensive concept, possible to understand from a general approach that could be called a planetary ecosystem and that is made up of the geosphere, the biosphere, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere and the exosphere that would be something like interplanetary space, which is outside to the atmosphere.

This huge ecosystem can be divided into smaller ecosystems, which of course will be much easier to study. Now, we must be clear that although human beings divide and classify ecosystems in order to better understand their functioning, to preserve them and to exploit them, it is a reality that nature is a whole and that there is a constant interrelation between all the component ecosystems and that make up the so-called ecosphere.

In this globalized ecosystem living beings interact directly or indirectly. For example, organisms such as plants are concerned with releasing oxygen into the atmosphere that will be vital for the life of other living beings such as animals and humans. On the other hand, the hydrological cycle that allows the movement of water is an essential process for life that is generated at that planetary and global level we were talking about. For example, it is not a phrase when it is said that the planet is our home and that we must take care of it as our own home, because any damage that it suffers will affect the rest of it.

When we refer to living organisms, among them are the following: the producers (they are autotrophic organisms, they produce their own food through water, carbon dioxide and mineral salts, using light energy), consumers (They are heterotrophic organisms, they consume living organic matter produced by other living beings). The latter have several classes: primary (herbivorous animals, they only feed through plants), secondary (carnivorous animals, predators, that feed on herbivorous animals), tertiary (those animals that feed on other carnivorous animals) and decomposers (They turn out to be those heterotrophic organisms that feed on dead organic matter that results from the remains of other living beings).

On your side, the biosphere, where these mentioned organisms are present extends from the bottom of the oceans to the top of the highest mountain in existence, also encompassing part of the atmosphere, the troposphere, the hydrosphere and a superficial part of the geosphere, that is, the biosphere, as it results from the above, is the area of the earth in which life is found.

System specially created by NASA

On the other hand, The hermetically sealed glass egg, in which algae, bacteria and shrimp live, is also called the ecosphere, in some way, a scientifically perfect world, which, with the corresponding care, can live between four and five years, although there have been cases that life lasted for 18 years.

They turn out to be the product of special research carried out by NASA's aerospace laboratory, who, while looking for alternatives to transport complete ecosystems to planets far from Earth, such as Mars, for example, in the future, found this option.

Sea water, sea water, algae, bacteria, shrimp, gravel were introduced into the egg. Biological activity takes place in isolation because the egg is closed. It only receives light from the outside to maintain the biological cycle.

The idea of NASA with this project was to have a complete idea about the installation of closed systems that allow meeting the basic needs of food, water and air for astronauts who arrive on a planet other than Earth, living on this kind of invention but of gigantic sizes in which a human being can fit.

So, in this sense, NASA considers the ecosphere as a small planet earth and shrimp act as human beings.

Thanks to this advanced experiment, it was possible to understand that as long as the balance is respected, a harmonious ecosystem can be obtained. And we can obviously transfer this directly to our planet, to what happens when the basic variables are not respected.
