definition of excellent

The word Excellent is a term that we use widely in our language when we want to express that something or someone turns out to be great or magnificent in terms of the quality they present or the esteem they arouse.

In other words, we can apply the word in relation to things that stand out for their superiority, for example: the fabric of the dress is of excellent quality. Or use it when we talk about individuals ... María is an excellent friend, you can always count on her when you need it.

It should be noted that this term is closely linked to another, that of excellence, which is precisely used to account for the quality of excellent. When we talk about the excellence of something or someone, it is because they stand out in terms of their quality, superiority, and that is why they are objects of high esteem and value and also stand out from the average.

Therefore, we can say that both concepts, excellence and excellent, are associated and close to the idea of perfection, given that on the one hand they stand out from their group or their peers and on the other hand they do not show weaknesses that precisely affect that perfection that they display.

When some person demonstrates a different skill or capacity, beyond the ordinary, and difficult to surpass by the rest, it will be said that in this or that activity he presents an excellent performance.

Whereas if the concept is applied to things and objects we will be indicating the enormous quality or innovation that one of them presents.

There are many synonyms that can be used instead of this term, such is the case of: magnificent and generous, meanwhile, the word that opposes is that of appalling, which refers to what is very bad.
