definition of emergency exit

As the term itself implies, the emergency exit refers to the exit door that a person must take in the event of an emergency. It is an alternative option to the usual one that you can find in public buildings, schools, companies and means of transport (buses). In the event of a fire at some point, people should take this exit and never take the elevator (in the case of public buildings).

This emergency exit is clearly signposted in all buildings in order to increase its visibility and that in the event of something unexpected happening, people take this option to leave the building, guaranteeing their well-being options. This type of exit is located in a strategic area of the building.

Emergency exits in schools

In order for people to learn how to use these emergency zones, schools and different centers where many employees work often organize evacuation plans that show a simulation of how to act in the event that an emergency really occurs and the people were forced to evacuate by leaving the building in order and keeping calm.

These tests are pedagogical to learn how you should really act in the event of an alarm event.

When to use emergency zones

It should be noted that although the operation of the emergency exit door is optimal at any time, this alternative should never be used at the usual entrances and exits for which people must use the main access areas.

In other words, it is advisable to have an ethical responsibility to use the emergency areas of the buildings only in those circumstances in which it is strictly necessary, using the regulatory areas of use in the day-to-day movements.

The use of emergency exits can be decisive in saving lives in a possible emergency situation. For this reason, companies must inform workers where these exit areas are located so that they can use them if the time comes to do so.
