definition of bathyscaphe

A bathyscaphe is that submersible boat, capable of withstanding high water pressures and used when exploring the depths of the sea or ocean.

That is, it is about small manned submarines that have autonomous propulsion and that allow the arrival to remote and deep regions of the water, generally, at the request of scientific or military purposes.

In most cases, the bathyscaphs have a remarkable technological equipment, such is the case of cameras specially trained to operate in the conditions to which the boat is exposed and that will allow to register, measure and even rescue objects that are found. on the seabed, such as: remains of sunken ships and submarines.

Meanwhile, the bathyscaphe is composed of a cabin similar to the one that has a bathysphere suspended under a tank that contains a liquid, lighter than water, normally gasoline, meanwhile, the propulsion is generated from engines that They are powered by an electric battery.

This type of boat was created by Auguste Piccard last century and the first unmanned and autopilot dive was made in the Cape Verde archipelago in 1948, being able to reach a depth of 1,080 m. A few years later, in 1953, following tests and improvements to the initial design, Piccard and his crew managed to break the mark and descended some 3,150 m. with the new bathyscaphe called Trieste. Over the years, the advances were extended and of course the distance of descent grew considerably.
