The of the vault is a Very recurrent architectural construction in spaces such as cloisters, or in constructions such as cathedrals and underground galleries, among others, and is characterized by presenting an arched shape that will cover the space between two walls or between several pillars.
It is normally manufactured from bricks, cement, adobe, among other materials, and its purpose is to cover the space between two walls. There are vaults designed in certain buildings that, due to their design, relevance and longevity, are authentic monuments that tourists do not stop visiting if they go to the city in which they are erected, such as the Cathedral Santa María de Toledo, in Spain.
On the other hand, it is also worth noting that in our language the concept is widely used to refer to that underground floor, at the request of a church, or also to that place located below the surface and that is traditionally used to inform the deceased.
In some parts of the Spanish-speaking world, for example in the Argentina, the word vault is especially associated with those enclosures that are located in cemeteries and that are intended for the rest of the dead. The particularity of these places is that in a vault the remains of all those people of a family who have died will rest. It is usually a fairly common practice, especially for more traditional families, to acquire a vault in a cemetery and then the remains of the deceased members of that family are housed there.
At Recoleta Cemetery, which is undoubtedly one of the most recognized and famous cemeteries in Argentina, many traditional families have a vault there. Located in the Recoleta neighborhood, and owner of a unique classic design, it also houses the remains of many notable personalities of the country such as Bartolomé Miter, Juan Bautista Alberdi, Victoria Ocampo, Raúl Alfonsín, among others.
It is worth noting that they are acquired just like any other property and obviously the family that owns it must pay its maintenance monthly as well as take charge of repairs, reforms, etc.
