The Mexican administration has created a registry to facilitate relations between taxpayers and the administration dedicated to tax collection. This registry is known by the acronym RFC, that is, federal registry for taxpayers. These types of systems exist in most advanced countries. In the case of Spain, the body that processes and manages taxes is the Tax Agency, an entity that also has a specific computer program so that it is possible to carry out procedures virtually.
The use of the Internet in the processing of procedures has, of course, the purpose of speeding up and simplifying the procedures of citizens and, in this specific context, the procedures associated with the taxation of Mexican taxpayers.
RFC Considerations
To register in the RFC it is necessary to be of legal age and to register in the program a series of personal data (name and address initially).
Registration is made only once and to do so the user must enter the procedures and services section of the RFC, specifically in the tax administration service (known by its acronym SAT). The computer system will request that the taxpayer enter their CURP (unique population registry key). On the other hand, the system makes a series of requests in order to guarantee security in the procedures.
It is advisable that the registration in the RFC be done correctly, with the data verified beforehand and following the steps established by the computer program. An important aspect is the registration of the personal telephone and email, because in this way the RFC office can contact the taxpayer if necessary. Another relevant aspect for the taxpayer is to keep the proof of registration, which includes the tax identification card.
Once correctly registered in the RFC, it is possible to establish a fluid relationship between the tax agency and the taxpayer. However, the taxpayer must appear at the SAT offices within a short period of time to communicate their registration in the RFC.
Registering with the RFC is aimed especially at employed workers (in Mexico it is known as paid assimilated).
