definition of manifest

The term manifest is designated as that declaration of principles and intentions that an individual makes and that can be both political and artistic in nature..

Politically speaking and at the request of a parliamentary democracy, a manifesto will be that declaration of principles and intentions that a political party will carry out to not only outline and give an account of the strategic direction that the party will take, but also to draw the first outlines of its eventual legislation, in case of being elected in the elections that take place.

Generally, those proposals, policies, initiatives, that appear in the manifesto of a political party that has already won the elections, will enjoy a much higher consideration than any other government measure that may be introduced, displaying such legitimacy that it will make the legislature I already consider them.

On the other hand, for art, a manifesto is usually related to what is known as avant-garde and it will strictly be called that way to the vindictive expression that symbolizes the will to style of a group of artists or of a new artistic movement.

The artistic manifesto can take the following forms: that of writing that is published, that of a work of art that is considered to symbolize, represent and summarize what a certain art movement proposes and promotes. For instance. the work of art known as Les Demoiselles d'Avignon by Picasso, turns out to be a true manifesto for the cubist movement.
