There are different study techniques that allow you to approach a text by simplifying the content to start working on it and enhance your understanding. One of the most common study techniques is the outline. A technique that is more complex than underlining and that is later than it.
That is, to be able to outline a content in a clear way, it is essential to have previously underlined the main ideas of each paragraph that are key to differentiate them from the secondary ideas.
An outline has no value by itself but its value depends on its relationship with the text, that is, it is a tool that is at your disposal. But there is no point in making an outline if it is not for a specific reason such as summarizing the main ideas of the content of an exam.

Like any type of communication form (the action of schematizing is also schematic) this ability is acquired through the practice of experience. For this reason, the most common is that students and professionals manage to better outline what they want to say from the elaboration and review of diagrams. An outline is a representation that shows the value of the economy of language (with fewer words it is possible to express the essence of a topic).

Outlining can be valuable not only in school but also at work. For example, a speaker who is going to give a public speaking conference can organize and practice his presentation with the purpose of having the main ideas of his talk in a small paper space.
This point of support as a didactic support is especially used by those speakers who like to give lectures by reading the speech directly. By outlining the lecture in advance, you make sure that you don't forget to convey the most important ideas in your presentation.
