definition of disinfection

The word disinfection refers to the process by which, from the use of disinfectant substances, a space or surface is cleaned and conditioned for its appropriate use. Disinfection can be more or less aggressive depending on the type of material or implements that are used in it: in some cases, the people and animals that live in that space must leave it for a couple of hours while in other cases such a situation is not necessary.

The main objective of disinfection is the cleaning of surfaces or spaces in which humans and animals will be living or with which they will have contact. In this way, the presence of bacteria or viruses that can cause infections of various kinds as well as diseases, allergies or serious health conditions is avoided. Disinfection can be carried out both in public and open spaces and in private and closed spaces.

To carry out the disinfection process, you must have materials specifically designed for such action, that is, disinfectants and other cleaning products that are available in an accessible way in many places. When it is required to use more aggressive and abrasive products, it is possible to need to have authorization or permission to do so since their improper use can generate many complications of various kinds. Depending on the type of product or system used, disinfection can be chemical (for example, with the use of disinfectants and chemical products) as well as physical (from the use of rags, sponges, racks, virulanas, etc.). It is important, in the case of using chemical products, to do so with extreme care, keep them away from the rest of the population (especially children) and always use them with the appropriate material or clothing so as not to hurt the skin, the roads respiratory, hair, vision, etc.
