definition of contraposition

The word opposed can be used to account for the comparison that is made of one thing with respect to another contrary; and also the term is used to refer to the opposition of one thing to another.

In the field of politics, in the intellectual environment, where ideas are normally discussed and debated, the use of this term turns out to be quite frequent. For example, in the framework of a debate of political candidates that will be measured before the public to decide who will occupy a seat in the House of Representatives, each one will express their proposals, their ideas, their programs and finally when that material reaches the hands of journalists, it is plausible to be compared in order to discover and demonstrate which political proposal is absolutely contrary to another.

But also, on the other hand, it is recurrent that the word is used to refer to a type of antagonism or the contradiction between two things; It should be noted that the antagonism in question will arise as a consequence of the different or contrary characteristics of the things that are in opposition. For example, the day is contrasted with the night, the city is contrasted with the countryside and silence is contrasted with the noise, among others.

Meanwhile, the word contraposition is usually used as a synonym for the following words: opposition, antagonism, rivalry, contrast, confrontation, discrepancy and confrontation. And on the contrary, it is directly opposed to the concepts of harmony and equality.

The logical contrast, on the other hand, is one of the operations corresponding to the traditional logic, which consists of the modification of the Aristotelian judgment by converting the previously obverted judgment, the quality of the judgment is changed, or failing that, bypassing the judgment that was previously converted. For instance, all French are European, no French are non-European.
