definition of happy hour

The Spanish language is full of Anglicisms and happy hour is one of those many that today are used as widely in our language as in the English language. The literal translation into Spanish refers to happy hour and its use is strictly linked to a very common proposal in bars, pubs, discos and other similar places that has the mission of attracting customers. Because happy hour basically consists of offering during a certain time, for example from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., or in a longer time slot, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m., succulent promotions regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages, preferably.

The modality arose in the Anglo-Saxon world, hence the imposition in the denomination, but then it spread phenomenally throughout the rest of the world.

Free second drink, half-price drinks, or free drink during happy hour

For example, one of the most common proposals in this regard is to offer the customer a free second drink or drink they consume during the time period established as happy hour. Or it is also common that during that happy time a basic drink is paid and a free drink can be obtained, such is the case of beer. Or directly during happy hour the drinks cost half the normal value.

This practice, as we have already pointed out, is extremely widespread throughout the world because it is a commercial strategy that has proven to bring good results to the bars that propose it as such, since they are filled with customers during happy hour hours .

Its extension to other areas, such as clothing

We must also highlight that this very successful practice in the area of bars and pubs has spread to other areas, for example clothing, and then in recent years it has become a common practice at the behest of festivities such as Christmas. in which people usually give gifts en masse. The mechanics are more or less the same as with the drinks, a garment is offered at the list value and another at half price at happy hour. The aforementioned is a commercial strategy especially exploited by large shopping malls.
