definition of furniture

Furniture is normally understood to be any element or item that serves to decorate the environments of a house and that has the possibility of being moved around. Furniture is the group of furniture that exists in a home, although decoration elements and accessories can also fall within this group that complete the space and make it more appropriate for the home.

There is no doubt that furniture is one of the most important elements that a person must have in order to live comfortably. It can be said that from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries furniture began to become an important part of the environments since with the rococo the furniture of the French royalty stopped being crude and simple to become true works of art and luxury. Anyway, the furniture existed for the human being since always and in many cases it was associated with the power if it belonged to certain social classes.

Furniture can be classified into different types, according to the room to which it is destined (for example furniture in the bedroom, dining room, kitchen), according to the type of material (such as metal furniture, wood , PVC or plastic), according to the style (modern, classic, youth, for children, etc.). The furniture is specially designed, regardless of its style or shape, to allow human beings to carry out different activities of daily life such as sleeping, eating, studying, reading, relaxing, watching television, etc.

Today industrial design is the area from which the production of different types of furniture is planned and executed, some more modern and unique while others become massive furniture that follows certain generic styles and sold at more accessible prices.
