definition of teaching practice

Teaching is the realization of teaching. Teachers and professors are the teachers of a nation's educational system.

For a teacher to transmit their knowledge to a group of students, it is necessary that they have previously acquired a deep knowledge of a subject. The process of acquiring a discipline is slow and mainly theoretical, since in universities tests are carried out to verify the level acquired and the transmission capacity of the same does not matter so much. The moment of transmission or communication of a subject will take place when the teacher is in a classroom. In this situation we speak properly of teaching practice.

Like any other profession, practicing teaching requires certain qualities, both personal and professional. First of all, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the subject to be taught. This requirement is essential, but without a doubt it is not the only one. Second, it is very convenient to have dexterity at the time of communication; especially if it is taken into account that the student may not have a special inclination with respect to certain subjects. This is what happens frequently with mathematics, a subject that is unattractive if the teacher is not able to explain it in a simple way and adapted to the student's circumstances. This second aspect of teaching practice is what is called didactics, that is, the set of techniques that arouse the interest of students. Didactics is a part of pedagogy and is a very useful instrument to achieve correct communication between the teacher and the student. In common language it is said that a teacher knows how to teach when, in addition to having good knowledge, he knows how to transmit them properly.

There is also an important aspect in teaching practice: discipline. An absence of school discipline creates obvious conflict. Discipline is achieved with a series of clear rules and with the authority of the teacher, who must know how to apply the regulations correctly, without forgetting that authority is exercised through their own personal and professional attitude.

For the teaching practice to be effective and of quality, it is desirable that the teacher has a solid vocation, that he likes to teach the student because he considers that he is doing a good to society.

Teaching practice is an activity of clear social value. The educator has an important role in the educational trajectory of the student. A good teacher is someone remembered, a person who has left a mark among his students.
