A waste is he misuse of something or someone. That is, you have something, a machine that is not exploited as it should to perform at its maximum and therefore it is worked at the minimum level, wasting its capacity, or failing that, you have an employee who has many knowledge about a subject and sends him to do something totally different for which he is better prepared.

Understood as Waste
On the other hand, a waste is also that residue or waste of something, more popularly known as trash. That is to say, the remains of something, of a meal, of an element, which cannot be used in any way and therefore there is nothing left but to throw them into a basket.
We usually collect waste in a bag located in the kitchen, inside a container designed for this purpose, popularly known as a garbage can, which we take out to the street every day if we live in a house, or which we deposit in a special cubicle in the apartment buildings so that in the latter it is collected by the person in charge of the building and deposited in the corresponding place from where the collectors remove it.
For its part, a food waste it is that edible substance, either raw or cooked, that is discarded or expected to be discarded during preparation.
Recycling
Some wastes can be used, such is the case of food scraps that are in good condition and not decomposed, or failing that, they can be recycled such as paper, cardboard; and there are also other wastes that cannot have any use and these are just consecrated as garbage.
Now, we must also say that what for one person is a residue for another may not be. Let's think about food, there are many people without food needs who throw away part of the plate of food that was made because they are not so hungry, meanwhile, for a person who does have food needs because they do not have money to meet this need, those leftovers of the food that someone throws into a trash can can be of enormous use to survival.
Unfortunately, it is a reality of many people who are destitute to go through the trash cans in cities to recover food that others throw away and thus consume it to feed themselves.
On the other hand, it is also a very visible scene in many countries with severe poverty problems to see people who go through the garbage in search of papers, cardboard and other materials that they then resell as a way of making a living.
Today's world, absolutely co-opted by consumerism, generates a huge daily amount of garbage.
Meanwhile, an expression widely used in common language and that contains the term turns out to be have no waste; such a phrase allows to refer that something is very useful or totally usable. “Your new book has no waste"; meanwhile, it is also common to use the aforementioned phrase with a ironic sense to refer that what is mentioned could not be worse. “The party has not been wasted, the only thing missing was that the groom regretted having married.”
