The history of literature consists of very different literary styles, genres that show a specific style. There are readers who are lovers of literature in general while others feel a specific predilection for their own genre. Romantic novels describe love stories, passionate stories in which stories of feelings, the exaltation of the heart and falling in love have weight in the plot.

The romantic novel is linked to the cultural context of Romanticism that occurred in the eighteenth century in response to the rationalism of the thinkers of the Enlightenment who exalted rational logic above the logic of the heart. Romanticism on the contrary, highlights the value of feelings as a point of access to true happiness. It was a cultural genre that was very strong in England and Germany.

Exaltation of feeling

Romanticism is a way of knowing reality. In a romantic novel, the writer reveals his creative genius, his lierary strength based on inner freedom. A freedom that goes beyond any type of stereotype.

There is another type of romantic novel different from the context of Romanticism since despite the passage of time, love novels remain faithful to the value of their original essence that seeks to highlight the purity of love as a feeling that transforms people's lives .

In that case, this type of work is considered a rose novel. It describes the story of two lovers who must overcome obstacles in order to be together because destiny seems to be against them despite the fact that the love in their heart is strong.

A characteristic note of this type of novel is that the ending is happy and the lovers meet again being happy forever. This happy ending brings satisfaction to the reader who enjoys a story that leaves a sweet taste in their memory.

Throughout the plot, the details of the emotional universe of each of the lovers are developed, the story is the central axis of the argument. Some romance novels have been adapted for film in the form of comedies.
