definition of support

In our language, the concept of support has several references.

On the one hand, we call support to that element or object that serves to hold something. For example, at the behest of the construction of a building, the iron beams will turn out to be the support that the structure will need to support the weight and not collapse.

When carrying out housework, it is usual that suddenly and when we are unable to do something, we need some element to use it as a support. Here the imagination and practical intelligence are usually at stake to choose from among the utensils that we have at our disposal, one to help us in the task. Thus, if we are working with a box and we need it to remain open, we can use a fork to act as a hinge and not close.

Too, the word support is usually used very recurrently by people with the sense of confirmation, proof or foundation, regarding an opinion or doctrine that is held. Thus, for example, when writing a report on a scientific topic, studies and conclusions carried out by experts in a timely manner may be used as support. These will not only help with the argumentation of a topic or issue but will also provide a test fee.

On the other hand, another of the most widespread meanings that the term has is that which refers to the protection, assistance or favor that an individual, company, body or organization provides to another or others in a certain situation of need, either at the request of a catastrophe or a particular initiative, among other situations.

And it will be precisely in this last of the senses that we find an important variety of concepts linked to the word.

School support It is one of them, since it refers precisely to the provision of help that a private or school professional will provide to a student who presents some difficulties in the learning process. Meanwhile, once the origin of their difficulty has been determined, it will be resolved what type of attention they need, didactic or pedagogical, in order to solve their problem, which, generally, among other evils, causes a serious decline in student performance.

Another type of support that most human beings seek at some time in life is emotional support, which supposes that the person who is going through some drama or conflict, looks for a person who listens to him and also creates a space in who feels safe to express himself freely and thus release all his worries and tensions.

Emotional support in this type of situation is typical, classic, but also in a context of this type, it is common for people to be inclined to seek therapeutic support, that is, that provided by a professional in psychology or psychiatry and of course, they will have one of the most precise tools to guide, contain and, if necessary, medicate the patient who needs it.

Without a doubt, support in this sense of protection or favor is very important that it appears or is given, in whatever manifestation, when the person most needs or asks for it. It is even proven that receiving support of the type that is on time can not only help the person to resolve a conflict but also that it will support him emotionally and give him courage to face that, even the most difficult.

It is worth noting that support for those who need it is linked to notions such as solidarity, since that person who knows how to provide support when necessary, that is, who realizes that they are attending, accompanying, when someone needs it, will be characterized by your solidarity.

On the contrary, those who are selfish are hardly offering their support to those who need it most.
