Social

definition of injustice

Injustice is defined as the lack of justice, the common good and balance within various social groups that can range from the entire community to the individual subject. As such, injustice mainly involves the lack of respect for the rights of both individuals and society as a whole, and this lack of respect or lack of rights can be made visible in innumerable ways: some smaller and almost invisible, others more. notorious and flagrant. If we understand that justice is the search for the common good and joint welfare, then injustice will be the benefit of some in pursuit of the harm to others.

Injustice can be present in any type of social formation, and some scientists have managed to observe it in animal communities. In the case of man, injustice arises from the corruption of the values of truth, respect, solidarity, love for neighbor and ethics. When any of these values is not taken into account and is neglected in everyday behaviors, acts of injustice are clearly present.

Injustice in judicial proceedings

When we think of injustice or lack of justice, we immediately tend to associate it with situations of judicial or legal resolution. In them, injustice is evidenced by not properly condemning a criminal, by not acting according to what the law establishes, applying the law negligently, which of course is the same as not doing justice, or something that is also very habitual and that promotes injustice in this sense is the failure in the legal system or what is popularly known as a legal vacuum.

The legal vacuum It occurs when there is no regulation on a specific issue, then, since there is no specific regulation on a situation, it will be left to its own devices, and in the event of a complication it will not be easy at all to find a fair solution that according to the parties, for example.

However, it is important to note that judges are obliged to apply substitute techniques in cases of legal vacuum, being the most normal thing to apply the criterion of analogy through which the judge applies the regulations he understands in similar cases.

Social inequality

However, and beyond these injustices that the law does not know how to condemn or punish, there are many ways to act unjustly on a day-to-day basis without necessarily being punished by law. Such is the case of taking advantage of an individual when he wants to buy an item by misinforming him the price, not giving way to passersby by motorists, not respecting the public space and damaging it with garbage, not distributing according to the rent, a fact that gives way to poverty and income inequality in a society, and so on.

So, one of the example cases of social inequality is the income inequality and that is manifested by the disparity with regard to their distribution. In almost all times and in all societies this inequality has existed and exists, while the prevailing economic system (capitalism versus socialism), wars, differences in skills and in education of individuals, count when creating that gap of income inequality.

It is worth noting that social inequality in economic matters triggers a multiplicity of problems that will end up affecting the harmonious development of society in general, among them: drop in life expectancy, drug addiction, mental problems, deficient levels of education and health, increased rates of teenage pregnancies.

Commit against unjust acts

Working towards the elimination of circumstantial or global unfair behavior is something in which the entire community must be committed. Injustice exists when individuals in a society or community do not recognize the rights of others and pass over them. The change of attitude in the face of small or large situations of injustice is the only way to achieve solid structures of justice.

By this we mean that beyond the existence of norms, laws, that regulate certain activities and situations of community life, it will be necessary for each individual part of society to actively commit to defending justice, promoting it and of course condemning justice. injustice when it occurs.
