The term deduction is applied in two specific and well-differentiated contexts. On the one hand and in the field of philosophy and logic, a deduction is a conclusion or inference that is reached thanks to the implementation of a reasoning method which will start from general concepts or universal principles to reach the particular conclusions mentioned above.
What a deduction or also known as deductive logical method implies, is that the conclusion is implicit in the premises, this means that if we exclusively follow those who state the premises, we will undoubtedly reach the conclusion of the question at hand.
This method of reasoning that goes from the most general to the particular was put into practice for the first time in antiquity, more precisely in ancient Greece, by various philosophers, among them one of the most prominent was Aristotle.
The main application of the deduction is made through the extrapolation method, which is a scientific and logical method that assumes that the course of events will continue in the future, constituting as the rules from which it will start to reach a new conclusion, that is, they are extrapolated and they serve us in a new situation.
Thanks to the fact that this method is widely used to find the solution to a problem and also in the teaching of pedagogy, it has become a fundamental tool in professional practice and in the field of education. For example, in a learning context, for a medical student who must learn the organs, their functions, dysfunctions, interactions and symptoms, among others, then those rules that he learned can be extrapolated and put at the service of the knowledge of the human body as a whole.
In both and on the other hand, a deduction in an economic context, refers to the discount or reduction that can be applied on the price of a product or service that is marketed or on the salary of a worker if it is that he did not satisfactorily fulfill his work duty or because his employer for some reason unrelated to his performance decided to impose a cut on his salary.
